Aragorn - Lord of the Rings

The first time I got into cosplay accuracy was when I started working on Aragorn in 2014. It wasn’t necessarily a huge success in the accuracy department, but it taught me a lot for the projects to come. I would do a million things differently if I recreated this costume today, but it still deserves its own page.

The main piece for this cosplay is the “liquorice” green duster. The lacing on the sleeves run all the way down from the underarm seam and to the wrist. I’m thankful for the thorough documentation of the costumes in the behind the scenes material for the movies. For the patterns, I based most of the pieces on Simplicity 1552 and altered them as I saw fit.

For weathering and dirt makeup, I used Maekup by David Stoneman – it remains one of my favourite weathering products to this day.

into the very fires of Mordor."
